Who It’s For

Why Do This Course

Step Up Into Management

The gap between doing the work and running the show is usually the numbers and the employment rules. Both are covered here, so you can say yes when the step comes up.

Start Something Of Your Own

Business types and structures, a business plan, GST, income tax and Xero. The parts people usually learn by getting them wrong in year one.

Know Where The Money Goes

Financial statements, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow. Most businesses that fold were profitable on paper and out of cash in the bank.

Where The Skills Fit

Where These Skills Could Take You

Every business needs people who can see the whole thing at once, not just their own corner of it. The work is easy to picture: watching the cashflow, keeping the team sorted and paid, and making a call on where the next dollar goes.

Operations Coordinator

Keeping the moving parts of a business in step, with the budgeting and cashflow work covered directly here.

Team Leader

The employment law and payroll grounding matters most the day you are responsible for other people's hours.

Finance Officer

Reporting, GST, tax and reconciliations, using Xero or MYOB depending on what the business runs.

Marketing Assistant

Marketing and social media has its own topic, and knowing the numbers behind a campaign is rarer than it should be.

Management Trainee

The way most people enter management. This pathway covers the ground those programmes assume you will pick up.

Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every role is different, and some need more study or experience. Manager titles usually go to people with a few years behind them in the industry.

What Makes It Different

Here is what stands out in this pathway.

01
The Legal And Employment Side Included

Key New Zealand business legislation and employment law both get their own topics. This is the part that costs owners real money when they guess.

02
Two Accounting Systems, Not One

Xero and MYOB Business Essentials are both covered, so you can work with whichever system a business already runs on.

03
You Finish With A Business Plan

The start-up course walks you through structures, a plan and the bookkeeping setup, so the paperwork is done rather than pending.

Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need business experience to start?

None needed. The pathway opens with accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals and business structures, so it assumes you are starting from the beginning.

What does it cost each week?

The payment plan is $29 a week, with no deposit and no credit check. You can pay weekly, fortnightly or monthly, or pay upfront. Enquire for the full options.

How long does the course take?

Around 220 hours at your own pace, with 18 months of access. There are no set class times, so it fits around work and family.

Is this for starting a business or getting a management job?

Both, and the overlap is bigger than people expect. The money, tax and employment ground is the same either way, and the start-up course is there if you want your own thing.

Are there exams?

There are none, ever. You are assessed through practical business work, with tutor support behind you.

Is this course accredited?

It is accredited by ICOES and the CPD Standards Office, which is accreditation for professional development. It is not NZQA accredited, so it is not a national qualification. That is a different thing. For management and small business work it is no barrier: what counts is whether you can read a set of accounts and keep a team on the rails.

Can I get my money back if it is not for me?

Yes. There is a 10-day money back guarantee. If it is not right, you get your money back.
