Who It’s For

Why Do This Course

Get Your Foot In The Door

Small businesses and accounts teams need people who can record the transactions, chase what is owed and get the reports out. You learn all of it here. The career centre then helps with your CV and your interviews.

Take Over The Books At Work

Already doing bits of the accounts? You get the full picture: journals, ledgers, GST, payroll and tax, plus Xero and MYOB. Next time the books land on your desk, you know what you are looking at.

Start Your Own Bookkeeping Business

Your NZQBA membership opens the door to the Approved Advisory Group with Inland Revenue. You also get tools, templates and a network of other bookkeepers to lean on.

Where The Skills Fit

Where These Skills Could Take You

Bookkeeping sits in small businesses, accounting firms and the accounts teams of bigger companies. The work is easy to picture: entering the invoices, chasing what is owed, running payroll and getting the reports out.

Bookkeeper

Keeping the books straight for a business. Journals, ledgers, GST and payroll fill the day.

Small-Business Bookkeeper

Doing the books for owners who have no accounts team. Xero and MYOB are usually how the work gets done.

Accounts Payable Clerk

Processing what the business owes. Invoices and financial transactions are covered directly here.

Accounts Receivable Clerk

Chasing what is owed to the business and keeping the record clean as payments land.

Payroll Data Entry Clerk

Getting people paid correctly. Employment law and payroll get their own topic in the course.

Finance Administration Assistant

Supporting the accounts team. Reading a financial report matters as much as entering the data.

Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every role is different, and some need more study or experience. Certified and technician titles run through their own membership or qualification.

Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need any experience?

None. You do not need a finance background and you do not need to be good at maths. It starts at the fundamentals and builds from there.

What does it cost each week?

From $29 a week on a flexible payment plan, with no deposit and no credit check. You can also pay upfront in one payment. Enquire for the full options.

How long does the course take?

Around 140 hours at your own pace, with 6 months of access. There are no fixed class times, so it fits around work and family.

Do I need to know Xero or MYOB before I start?

Both get their own topic in the course, so you can start knowing neither one. You also get access to the official Xero Advisor Certification and six months of MYOB access.

Will this get me work as a bookkeeper?

It gives you what the entry level accounts jobs run on: journals, ledgers, GST, payroll, reports and the software. It is not a national qualification, and certified titles run through their own membership. What you walk away with is a working grounding for accounts and bookkeeping support roles, with the NZQBA behind you.

Are there exams?

There are none, ever. You are assessed on what you understand, with tutor support behind you.

Is this course accredited?

It is accredited by ICOES and the CPD Standards Office, which is accreditation for professional development. It is not NZQA accredited, so it is not a national qualification. That is a different thing. For bookkeeping and accounts work, what counts is whether you can do the books, and that is what this covers.

Can I get my money back if it is not for me?

Yes. There is a 10-day money back guarantee. If it is not right, you get your money back.
