Who It’s For

Why Do This Course

Move Into Careers Work

Schools, recruitment agencies and training providers all need people who can guide a career decision. You learn how to run that conversation, from the first questions through to a plan.

Upskill For Your Current Role

You may already do this part of the job. The manager who mentors. The tutor students come to. This puts a method behind it, with counselling skills and a way to run a guidance session.

Study Around Your Week

Fully online at your own pace, with 6 months of access and no exams. Tutor support is there by phone and email in business hours.

Where The Skills Fit

Where These Skills Could Take You

Careers help is wanted wherever people work or study: schools, recruitment agencies, training providers and HR teams. The work is easy to picture. You sit down with someone, work out what they are good at, and help them plan the next step.

Career Advisor (Assistant)

Working beside an advisor in a school or training provider. Running guidance sessions is a topic in its own right here.

Vocational Guidance Assistant

Helping people match what they are good at to work that exists. The career paths and exploration topics are the daily tools.

Job Placement Officer

Getting people into roles and keeping them there. Counselling skills matter as much as the job listings do.

Recruitment Support Coordinator

Talking to candidates about fit, not just availability. Knowing how a career decision gets made changes those calls.

Career Transition Support Officer

Supporting people through a change they did not choose. The topic on shifting industries speaks straight to this.

Workforce Development Assistant

Helping a team plan its own skills and next steps. Career development services are covered as a topic.

Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every role is different, and some need more study or experience. Counselling registration in New Zealand runs through its own accredited study and supervised practice.

Why This One

What Makes It Different

Here is what stands out in this course.

01
The Conversation Itself

Building counselling skills and running a guidance session are topics of their own. That is the part people find hardest: asking the right question, then sitting with the answer.

02
Three Kinds Of Person To Help

Students and recent graduates. Working professionals. People whose industry is changing under them. Each group gets its own topic, because each one needs a different approach.

03
You Get Career Support Too

Enrolment opens the Career Centre: job listings, CV templates, a personalised CV review, interview preparation and a five step job success process.

Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need any experience?

None needed. It is built as a starting point for people with no background in this area. You begin with how career paths work and build from there.

How long does the course take?

Around 100 hours at your own pace, with 6 months of access. There are no set class times, so it fits around work and family.

What does it cost each week?

From $29 a week on a flexible plan. You can also pay upfront in one payment. Enquire for the current options.

Are there exams?

There are none, ever. You work through the topics at your own pace, with tutor support behind you by phone and email in business hours.

Can I work as a counsellor after this?

You finish able to sit down with someone and guide a career decision, which is what careers support roles are built on. Counselling registration is a separate path: NZAC registration asks for its own accredited study and supervised practice. What you get here is the ground under those conversations, and a fast read on whether the work suits you.

Is this course accredited?

It is accredited by ICOES and the CPD Standards Office, which is accreditation for professional development. It is not accredited by NZQA, so it is not a national qualification. That is a different thing. For careers support work, what people judge you on is how you run the conversation, and that is what you practise here.

Can I get my money back if it is not for me?

Yes. There is a 10-day money back guarantee. If it is not right for you, you get your money back.
