Who It’s For

Why Do This Course

Get Into The People Side

HR teams hire from admin, reception and retail all the time. What they want is someone who understands recruitment, training and how people behave at work. That is what this covers.

Handle The Awkward Ones

Already managing people? Positive discipline, grievances and complaints each get their own topic. These are the conversations that go badly when you are making it up.

Study Around The Job You Have

Online and self paced, with no exams and no set class times. Six months of access, and you can start any day.

Where The Skills Fit

Where These Skills Could Take You

Every business past a certain size needs someone looking after the people in it, and HR teams hire steadily at the assistant end. The work is easy to picture: screening applications, running an induction, sorting out a roster problem, and sitting in on the conversation that has to happen.

Human Resources Assistant

The usual way in. Recruitment, records and staff training all show up in the first month.

Recruitment Coordinator

Running the hiring process end to end. Recruitment is covered directly here.

HR Administrator

Keeping the people paperwork straight, where monitoring and reporting carries the role.

Onboarding Coordinator

Getting new starters settled. Staff training and communication are the working knowledge.

Training and Development Assistant

Building people up once they are in. The staff training topic points straight here.

Employee Relations Assistant

Supporting the harder conversations, where grievances and positive discipline both apply.

Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every role is different, and some need more study or experience. Employment law advice is its own field and runs through legal qualifications.

Why This One

What Makes It Different

Here is what stands out in this course.

01
Discipline Done Well

Positive discipline is taught as its own subject. Correcting someone without wrecking the working relationship is a skill, and it is rarely taught anywhere.

02
Grievances And Complaints

A full topic on handling complaints right the first time. In New Zealand workplaces this is where small problems turn into legal ones.

03
Behaviour Before Policy

The course opens with human behaviour, then workplace communication. Policy makes more sense once you know why people do what they do.

04
Recruitment And Training Together

Recruitment and staff training sit side by side, which is how they work in a real HR team. Getting someone in is half the job; getting them good is the rest.

Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need HR experience?

None needed. It opens with human behaviour and workplace communication, so admin or retail behind you is plenty.

What does it cost each week?

The plan is $29 a week. You can also pay upfront in one payment. Enquire for the full options.

How long does the course take?

Around 100 hours at your own pace, with 6 months of access. There are no set class times, so it fits around work.

Does it cover New Zealand employment law?

It covers the practical side: grievances, complaints, discipline and health and safety, which is what an HR assistant handles day to day. Legal advice itself is a separate field, and most teams have a lawyer for that.

Are there exams?

There are none, ever. You are assessed on what you understand, with tutor support behind you.

Is this course accredited?

It is accredited by ICOES and the CPD Standards Office, which is accreditation for professional development. It is not NZQA accredited, so it is not a national qualification. That is a different thing. For HR assistant and coordinator roles it is no barrier: what teams ask about is whether you can run a hiring process and hold a hard conversation.

Can I get my money back if it is not for me?

Yes. There is a 10-day money back guarantee. If it is not right, you get your money back.
