Who It’s For

Why Do This Course

Do Your Own Pay Run

Run the pay yourself and hook it straight into the accounts. That is one less bill each month, and one less thing you wait on someone else for.

Take Payroll On At Work

If you are in accounts or admin, payroll is usually the piece sitting with someone else. New starters, leave, pay templates and pay runs are all covered here.

Put Payroll On Your CV

You finish with a certificate, 10 CPD hours, and access to Xero's own Advisor Certification. Payroll turns up in job ads across accounts and HR.

Where The Skills Fit

Where These Skills Could Take You

Every business with staff has a payday, and it has to be right and on time. The work is easy to picture: adding the new starter, keying the leave, running the pay, sending the payslips, then getting the filing away before the deadline.

Payroll Administrator

The pay cycle end to end in Xero, from new starter through to payslip.

Xero Payroll Specialist

The person a small team leans on when the pay run does something odd.

HR Payroll Administrator

Where payroll meets people: leave, entitlements and the records behind them.

Payroll Coordinator

Keeping the cycle moving on time, with the filing lined up behind it.

Timekeeping Administrator

Hours in, checked and ready, so the pay run has something true to work from.

Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every role is different, and some need more study or experience. Analyst, compliance and remuneration titles usually go to people with years on a payroll behind them.

Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need experience to start?

None needed. You do not need payroll behind you, and you do not need to have used Xero before. It opens with an introduction to Xero Online and builds from there.

What does it cost each week?

The payment plan is $29 a week, with no deposit and no credit check. You can pay weekly, fortnightly or monthly, or pay upfront in one payment. Enquire for the full options.

How long does the course take?

Around 15 hours at your own pace, with 6 months of access. Most people are through it well inside that.

Does it cover the filing, or just paying people?

Both. Filing obligations have their own topic, along with payslips and payroll reporting. Running the pay is half the job, and the half after it is where the deadlines live.

Do I get CPD hours?

Yes. You earn 10 continuing professional development hours on completion, and the content itself has been certified by the CPD Certification Service.

What if I get busy after I enrol?

The course is online and self paced. There are no fixed class times. You fit it around work and family, then pick it back up when things settle down.

Are there exams?

There are none, ever. You are assessed on what you understand, with tutor support behind you.

Is this course accredited?

It is accredited by the International Association of Accounting Professionals, and the content has been certified by the CPD Certification Service. That is accreditation for professional development. It is not NZQA accredited, so it is not a national qualification. That is a different thing. For payroll work it is no barrier: employers hire on whether you can run a pay and file it on time.

Can I get my money back if it is not for me?

Yes. There is a 10-day money back guarantee. If it is not right, you get your money back.
